I am looking at buying the Asus U31JG-A1.

The I-3-380M processor supports up to DDR3-1066 (according to Wikipedia) and this laptop comes with 4GB of DDR3-1333 ram. Does the extra fast ram do anything if the processor doesn't support it?

Just wondering why it is paired this way...thanks.

i3 does not support 1333 RAM natively. It will downclock itself to 1066. In all honesty the faster RAM at least for laptops is a ploy to get more money. People think bigger numbers is better.
