I have an asus g1s-b2 and i was wondering whether or not it would be better to upgrade the memory to 800mhz. i remember reading somewhere it would be more optimal for the speed of the memory to be the same as the fsb.

    disregard cost

800MHz is not supported by the Santa Rosa chipset, so it would be money wasted.

Plus, that whole DDR-speed should equal FSB-speed thing is no longer valid. Current technology does not need that.

Most laptop RAMs are locked to just one speed in the BIOS. So, whatever you have now is the only speed that your particular laptop supports. Upgrading to higher clock speed wouldn't do any good since your newly purchased RAM will run at the lower speed.
