I just bought a Dell 9400 with the following specs:

    Core 2 Duo T7200
    1 GB PC4200 533MHz (2 Dimms)

I would like to upgrade my memory to 2GB.

Should I be getting the 667 since it has the same bus speed as my processor? Does it matter if I get 533Mhz?

I found a 2 pack of Corsair at Newegg:
    CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Notebook Memory Model VS2GSDSKIT667D2 - Retail
for $210. Is this a good brand and good deal?

Newegg also had 1GB Buffalo sticks of the 667Mhz for $94. Is this a popular brand? Would I regret getting the cheapest I can find. I have no idea.

Also, if I sold my existing (2) 512Mb sticks on ebay how much would I get?

    Thank you for your help.

I'm using a 512MB Buffalo stick in my R60. It works fine. Using a off brand of memory only slightly increases the chance it won't work as it is not tested as much before leaving the factory. Look on eBay to determine the value of your old memory.

Kingston, Corsair, Crucial and OCZ are reputable brands.

If you are using XP and doing everyday tasks like Internet and word documents, I would suggest just getting 1GB of 533 and replacing one of your 512MB sticks with it to get 1.5GB total. I have 2GB and I never see memory usage go over 75%, and I play some pretty memory intensive games too.

I would like to play Oblivion at the highest settings possible. With the GeForce 7900GS and the T7200 processor could I get away with 1.5GB?

Awesome. Thank you. I have a gift card to Best Buy. I guess that's were I'm going.
