    Memory upgrade for Pentium 2

    My friend wanted to upgrade his lappy with pentium 2 processor. I don't know what type of memory that is compatible with this kind of processor.

    any idea? links if possible...

    Try running cpu-z to find out what type of ram it uses. However, I'm guessing it might be a 144 pin so-dimm sdram running at PC100. Newegg might have them in stock.

    To be safe why don't you use crucial's memory configurator. They will tell you what your friend needs.

    You might want to buy locally since a lot of those old notebooks can be picky on memory.

    Ebay baby. Also check out some local computer shops like zazonz mentioned and sort through the piles of used ram bins. Honestly ram modules are really tough, so buying them used in a big bin at a local used computer shop isn't too bad of an idea.

    Remember those old cartridge based games for your Nintendo, SNES, Sega, etc?? Well pretty much the same thing, as those were ROM modules covered in plastic casing and our RAM modules aren't covered by anything and aren't read only.
