Hi, just came home with 2 gigs of PNY DDR2 PC2 5300 to install in my Gateway MT3705. It came with 1 gig of DDR2 PC4200 installed. Anyways, Laptop wont boot with the new memory! Nothin happens. The PC5300 is backward compatible as I am told. Only diff I see is the new memory is PC2 and the original is just pc. Any ideas?

    PS, runnning Vista premium

It doesn't load...doesn't turn on, doesn't POST? We need more detail.

Are you SURE that you seated it firmly and properly?

Yes, dos'nt load, post/ nothin. Power does turn on and HD spins a bit as the HD light comes on maybe 5 sec, then nothing. Screen never shows a single thing except black.

And, oh yes, I triple checked seating of memory, that is pretty hard to not get right as it clicks into the side locks when you have it right.

Soon as I switch back to old mem, no problem.

    Here is the new mem:

Update: reinstalled new memory at work and all is good now! Don't know what was the problem, most likely a seating issue as suggested above for whatever reason.
