I was looking to purchase a new hp laptop....ZE2315US(ze23xx series or compaq presario M2300 series) and the only problem I have with it is the max memory of a gig. That being said the advertised expansion is 1 slot which is currently occupied by a 512meg stick. Is there another slot hidden on the machine?....or are there solder points on the motherboard?

I highly doubt that it will be soldered on to the MB. It most probably will be located underneath the keyboard. Most HP laptops which had only 1 advertised slot usually had the other one hidden under the keyboard. So I suspect thish would be the case with the ze2000 series.

If you go on HP's support website, check out their guides and manuals for your model. They are very helpful, and will show you how to access the other memory slot, which is most likely under the keyboard as posted.
