How the (insert expletive here) did this guy manage to get his hands on a Merom?
Noticed something weird in his 3dMark05 results, too. System details list his proc as a Pentium M. It lists mine as an Intel CPU T2300. Not doubting, but I would expect his to say something similar. Strange. Nice find!

If this bares out, this is very good news indeed for those of us who currently have a Core Duo.

More than likely, yes. They're still going to be producing single-core Celeron CPUs for budget users, so I doubt you'll the see the end of future Core Solo models dissapear until we've hit quad/eight-core CPUs.

    mmmm

1.- How did he got a Merom?
2.- How did he tested? I mean, is it the same socket as yohan? did he needed to do something weird?
3.- Just unveliabable... If it is the same socket and he could switch easily then I may get a yohan, but if it is not that easy I will certainly doubt a bit more on buying one this time.... I hope to see some turion x2 benchamrks soon

So it works without a bios update? That's very good news for core duo owners/ people on the market now.

Yeah, it's almost unbelievable. It's almost impossible.

While I wouldn't be surprised if Merom really did offer that kind of performance, this is BS. This guy doesn't have Merom because no one has it yet except Intel.

Merom would REQUIRE a BIOS update. You know why? Because it has 64-bit extensions.

    This is a hoax.

    Guys,

Its possilbe and it works. Fugger is the owner of xtremesystems.org as well as an official bencher for Intel. This is how he gets engineering samples. He also has a conroe chip.
