I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything is working correctly even after Sony driver install. I keep getting a windows reported a hard drive problem message. Sometimes when I reboot I get a Smart disk error message also. I have a SAMSUNG HM160HI hard drive installed. I went to there site and downloaded there disk check and burned it to a dvd and booted up the computer. I ran the software and it shows no errors. Could there be a software conflict between the SAMSUNG HDD and the Windows 7 operating system. Is there a way to get rid of the warning /error messages from windows. This only started happening since I installed the windows 7 clean install. I had XP Pro on it and there was no HDD error messages. The HDD is only two months old.

This is happening on a Sony Vaio VGN-BZ560P22

Do you have a picture of the error message? Alot of these so called programs giving "hard drive errors" are actually malware..

I ran Malwarebytes and there was no infection there or on my Microsoft Security Essentials. I may have found the problem. The Vaio control center under security has a HDD protection utility. It was set to high protection and I set it to low high performance. So far no warnings. I am guessing the HDD that came with my computer was compatible with this program. The new Smart HDD evidently does not like it.
