How do notebooks (im assuming they all have a maximum of 2dimm) have 3gb of ram?
I thought memory can only come in either 512mb, 1gb, 2gb or 4gb modules. How can you get a sum of 3gb out of these?

2GB + 1GB sticks.
-
I have 2 + 1 in my notebook.
-
does that mean DDR wont work properly? I thought it had to be same brand/model/size?
-
Does dual channel work properly when you have 1 x 2GB and 1 x 1GB sticks?
P.S. bangert!!! We were lucky last night in the football eh? Phew! As for Chelsea.... ROFL! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!! -
-
I think youve confused Double Data Rate with Dual/Single Channel
I suggest you check wikipedia and the RAM guide -
On Intel systems, dual channel will only be ever so slightly reduced by mismatched sizes.

thanks. that clarified a lot actually.
-
You can also have 4 installed but XP only sees 3
-
Wrong 32bit OS's only see 3-3.5gb
-
Actually 32-bit can see 4GB, it just can't utilize it since there is overhead.
Might be a retarded question re: RAM
