Hello, i need one to connect second HDD in to my laptop, there is many of those on eBay, and they cheap, 0,99$, however, shipping to my country would take month probably, because i had experienced how they do ship from china to small Europe countrys, and i do hate waiting! ;o. Anyway, there is pictures of the adapter:

Adapter looks soo easy to make one at home because i dont see any chip or any resistor, nothing, just plain line connections.
I do have a PCI-e plug and i do have a laptop SATA HDD plug, all is need is soldering, i can do that to. So my question is, do i am wrong, or this is really that easy to do it myself? If it is, can u guys help me by telling how to connect lines or giving some tutorial, that maybe was done here in forum before? (i couldint find one). i could try trace the connections in these photos, but im not so sure or do i see everything here. Thanx in advance :)

    Hi
I don't think that it's so simple, unless You have msata connector (You can find about msata over here: Serial ATA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) which looks essentially like mini pcie connector but have sata data signal lanes in it. Then this connector, which You show will work. If You have however simple mini pci-e connector then adapter will looks like this one eg: http://www.pridopia.co.uk/images/3132me-01.jpg. It need to have IC chip to convert pci-e signals to sata.

thank you for your reply, but in your picture there is a [mini pci-e] >> [ PC sata X2 ] converter, or something. That chip is there because this is a converter for TWO sata serial cables, and its actually a PC type cables..
What i was talking about is [mini pci-e] >> [Laptop SATA + Power X1 ] and this is the only one construction on marked, whoever it makes them ->
    [IMG]
and there is really not a single chip or resistor or capacitor or anything more then a wiring. Even if i look for a converter to pc sata and if i chose just one sata plug at the end, i get something like this:
    [IMG] [IMG]
again, no chips, just wiring... So im assuming, it should be possible, if only i could find a tech person that could guide me in more details about wiring.

ohh,,, wait a minute.,.. i just realised that i am sooo mutch wrong about first picture,. .. thats is just a some kind of replug, because thats laptop sata to sata and nothing more... i was forgot that the mini pci-e connection is way smaller. and there in picture they pretty mutch the same size. However. the second pictures shoud be right, because mini pci-e have 8 pins on smaller connector, so this will be it, just what about these wires? need to find out how they suppose to connect to sata...

ok this is the real deal:

That still only works if you have an mSATA port built onto your mPCIE port.

Yup, you'd need a SATA controller on the board for it to work in a mPCI-E connector if i recall correctly.

Though some laptops that are offered with mPCIE SSDs do come with msata integrated into mpcie and those adapters do work. Most laptops don't have it though.
