So when i click on my computer it tells me my harddrive has 200gb of 300gb free, but when i total up all the files inside the harddrive itself i get only 50gb of files (this is including all hidden files and folder)

system restore tells me i dont have any restore points so where did 50gb go?

Right click on the harddrive and then click on properties and go on disk clean up, when it has finished scanning go on the advanced tab, and then click "clean all but the most recent restores" - Vista makes a restore image every time you install a new program, or changed important settings... These soon add up, After a year of not cleaning that on one of my desktops i had built up a 190 GB restore archive.

    no problems :)

The other few GB is probably because of hybernate file ( uses the same amount of harddrive space as the ammount of ram you have installed)

limit the space allocated for windows restore that will fix the issue and you can forget about the issue.
