Im hoping someone can help me with my problem. I have a toshiba satellite L25 S1193 laptop with a Celeron M 1.5 Ghz came with hynix 512 PC24200 RAM. I bought a 1 gig stick of Crucial PC25300. It turns out, the slot with highest priority, is the slot furthest from the motherboard. I've tried switching the ram between the slots. No matter which slot the RAM is in, when I right click on "My Computer" select properties, it only shows 890 MB of RAM. Using CPU-Z, it shows the correct memory in each corresponding slot. My question is, why does it not show 1.5 Ghz on my computer? Do I need to change something in the BIOS? Need to get the same RAM? Confussed.

Thanks in advance for your help. :D

Hello and welcome to the forums. :)
When you are in CPU-Z, go to the "memory" tab.And see what is written near the "Channel #", is it "dual" or is it "single"

I'm at work right now, so I will check when I get home. Im almost positive that it is single though. Especially only being a Celeron M. I'm assuming that even though CPUZ is showing 1 gig in one slot, and 512 in the other, that doesnt mean that it is running at 1.5 Ghz? Whatever is showing under "My Computer", is what the laptop is actually running at, right?
Also, with it having a 1 gig stick in there, and only showing 890, I'm assuming the video card is using the difference? I thought the video card would only use about 64MB.

Well, I'm at home and yes, it is a single channel. Got 1 gig in slot 1, 512 MB in slot 2. "My Computer" only shows 896MB RAM. Maybe I need to update BIOS? I've never done that before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody.

    Hello

I've got pretty much the same laptop as you. Im pretty sure the motherboard is only reading a max of 1024MB ram, which would make sense if you take out 128 for the video leaves you with 896MB ram which is what windows is reporting.

To upgrade the bios follow the link here :: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_bios.jsp

Just pop in your model number and there should be an update for your model, you might need to look under to get your model number to get the right bios its PSY-XXX from memory!! hope this helps.
