Considering the fact that virtually no notebooks have HDMI input, I am considering taking the task of self modding for myself.
What would be needed to do so? I have a friend who is very knowledgeable when it comes to custom modifications such as these and I will contact him once I can find out if this is even possible.

What would HDMI IN do for notebooks?
cheers ... -
Well, I would like to play my PS3 on the notebook. Unfortunately notebooks only have HDMI output so I can't use it at the moment.
Update: I just checked in with my friend and he said he can't do it. Does anyone know where I can get it professionally modded? -
wouldn't be possible. video card wouldn't allow it.

Only way to do this is to use a TV tuner card that supports composite in. But then you're stuck with SD resolutions and a slight lag, which is fine for TV, but not good for games.

Still on my "to get list" one day because its a very neat gadget, besides allowing you to connect any video source to your computer it can stream your tv service to multiple computers or over the internet and allows you to of course record those feeds.
It uses your network as the interface so its not limited like USB is with bandwidth, thats also how it can stream everything.
You can get them pretty cheap on ebay or often the home site has these big sales like 30% off for doing a survey and stuff like that.
