I can already probably guess the answer to my question...but here it is.

I have an old ass ibm 600e the specs are as follows:

    PII 366
    96mb ram
    9G HD

and graphics etc. that would accompany a laptop that bad...haha.

My question is, is it possible for me to strip it and use the case to make a new one?

Well...you've probably already guessed my answer - it's no - not possible. You should get a new laptop if you want to do that.

The reason you can't do it is because you wouldn't be able to find a motherboard to fit the old chassis. They are made specifically for one notebook.

A little more memory and it might work as a internet surfing machine.

the cost of parts (mobo + ram + HD + vidcard) would cost as much to get a new machine.
