I am getting a faster internet connection from Comcast and they are offering a cable modem for $5 and I need to get a wireless router too which costs around $50-60 average. So, I was wondering rather than wasting $5 per month and extra bucks for wireless router, is there a router which is kind of 2 in 1 with cable modem and wireless router in a single box which I can buy so that I can save some bucks. Also I don't have to have 2 things under my table as well as 2 adapters. I really need to get that asap.

    Thank You

To give you the 'faster internet' they can't charge you for the modem too (each month).

Without the modem you wouldn't get their faster internet!

Of course there is what you're asking for (a two in one), but Comcast should be able to provide it to you for free.

Do you not have any other choice in an ISP?

Seems like they're trying to rip you off before Day 1 with them?

Any decent modem+router would be over the $100 mark, and you can buy your own modem for like $50

Well, they said that either I need to get my own modem or get theirs for $5 a month. When I went to amazon, I could get some modem for like $20-25. Also, the speed Im getting is a 32 MBPS so I don't know if I really need a expensive modem to get that speed or I can get that from the same $20 modem. Rather than ending up paying $60 for a year for modem, I would get my own. So any suggestions?

I am thinking back to an Endgadget article a long time ago...

Aren't there some internet providers who limit your connection speed via the modem and hence you have to use their supplied one?

No that it should be that way... but it's a thought...

Yes, unfortunately comcast does love to 'rent' their modems and digital cable boxes and sell you an over-priced wireless router. You should find a used modem on ebay for real cheap and buy yourself a decent wireless router. I would stay away from any combination modem/wireless router because while they do their modem job just fine, they are horrible wireless routers.
