I am installing this drive as the main drive on a G50vt-x1, but the SSD portion is not really visible. How can I get it to show up in my computer?

It's not actually an SSD inside the traditional platter hard drive. It's solid state NAND memory used for caching some frequently accessed programs.

Exactly, the NAND part is invisible to the user, this is completely normal and you get not say what goes on it aside from your usage patterns (the most used stuff will go on the cache if there is space).
