I'm thinking about buying a monitor calibrator but I don't know much about them. After doing some shopping on newegg and amazon I noticed they have Spyder 2 Express for 54 dollars.
I was wondering, would this fit my needs? I'm gonna use it to calibrate my home desktop LCD, a CRT and my laptop LCD along with loaning it to my father to use on hes.
I am a big gamer when it comes to my pc so I assume this would help with the colors on my VX2025wm? It also sounds like a great price at 54 dollars but I'm also curious why a lot of them go for 200 dollars or more?
I really don't do photo or video editing so I guess thats what the expensive ones are for? Professional video editors?

well some do it better than others and i guess some are targetted towards particular needs. you probably should find a review of the program before buying as it could be cheap cuz it is crap.

There is a freeware app called Monitor Calibration Wizard. You can find it at hex2bit.com.

Because the cheap ones improve the situation very minimally, and often make things worse, sometimes much much worse. That includes the $200 models, even the $800 packages from Gretag Macbeth aren't all that great.
