    I am currently using a asus m51sn and I was wondering if I purchase and attatch a external lcd through the dvi out will I get a higher resolution then the 12080x800 that I am currently getting on my notebook lcd display. Also if anyone has any suggestions for a monitor under $400

    The native resolution of your on board screen has nothing to do with the external. Yes you can buy better. I have no recommendations sorry.

    With DVI you can output the image to a max resolution of 1920x1200(24 inch LCD).
