    Hi guys,

I have an older guy I know whos daughters an ungrateful ***** (I'm not saying that, she really is). She doesn't appreciate anything at all!

I went over to fix their computer once and she actually told me to hurry up as she had homework to do!!! I was absolutely amazed at the rudeness of her.

Well, she snapped off the LCD monitor off her new (3months old) gateway laptop.
The dad has asked me to see if I can fix it (I know I can't)....
....so I was gonna offer him $100/$150 to take the laptop off his hands.

Whats the possibility of fixing this myself? The ribbon cable is snapped.

Or otherwise, should I just part it out? Its ~1.8GHz C2D lappy, can't remember exactly. 160GB HDD.

Worth buying it off him and parting it out? I'll have the laptop in my hands in a few days, so I can really look at what it has in certainty.

    Thanks, ps2cho

Well you would have to purchase a new screen in order to get a new ribbon cable. I think you are better off parting it out. If you get it to work, she may want it back to break it again.
If you sell the parts, then she cant take it back.
It would be about $300 for a new screen.
I doubt you will be able to buy a new ribbon cable without buying the entire screen.

You can get screens for a wide variety of laptop models here, and they even have tutorials on how to replace a screen.

You guys think I could make my money's worth for $100?

    I believe its 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, and ~1.7GHz Core2Duo.

You think I could make $200 total? Make a little profit.

I really don't want to fix it because she doesn't deserve to have it fixed.
