The max resolution I'm able to click is 1400 x 900 using the Nvidia control panel. However, when I use Power Strip it says my monitor max resolution is 1600 x 1200. I seem to be unaware of how to change my resolution to 1600 x 1200. Can anyone help?

Are you referring to an external monitor ? Does the external monitor support 1600x1200 ? Give more information , i.e : Your notebook model, external monitor model, how you have connected it and which display mode (clone, extended, single) you are using.

According to Gateway specifications, there are only two display options for P-78 series
    1. 17-inch WUXGA TFT Active Matrix Color Display (1920 × 1200)
    2. 17-inch WXGA+ Ultrabright™ TFT Active Matrix Color Display (1440 × 900).

Powerstrip is wrong, even if you have a higher resolution, it can't be 1600x1200 because that is a 4:3 standard, whereas you have a Wide screen. The closest Widescreen resolution to 1600 (horizontal) is 1680x1050. But, considering Gateway specs I'd say most likely have a 1440x900 screen.
