I warmly recommend the Dell 2007WFP a real S-IPS panel at 20.1" resolution is 1600x1200! Very nice picture quality, had friends over that was totally amazed by it's quality actually!

Though any S-IPS panel is the way to go to get a real nice monitor.

You can't look at a monitor's contrast ratio and safely conclude it's going to give you a better image. That really means nothing anymore. There are thousand+ professional panels with lower contrast ratios which would eat the HP for breakfast lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, you can't really look at specs and safely conclude anything.

Personally really can't stand HP monitors.

The Dell 2007WFP has two panels.. it's crap shoot if you'll get an IPS or PVA. Definitely a good price for either though.

But anyway you need to give us a price range and let us know exactly what you're going to be doing with it. Gaming? Video editing? Watching movies? Editing graphics and other things where color accuracy might be important? PhilFlow touched on it but it really does matter what you plan on doing with the screen.

I wasn't talking about specifications, I'm talking about real life, from personal observation. The HP w2207h has a glossy coating that enhances contrast rates. I've looked at many matte monitors but none of them come close, in my opinion.

But I'm a bit obsessed with contrast rates, I'm not the average consumer. With TVs for example, I have to have plasma.

Ah, I see. Glossy can help with that. Can be good for gaming if one doesn't care much for precision but just wants stuff to "pop" as much as possible.

Have you ever had a chance to check out this monitor? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005109 It's my favorite glossy screen I've had a chance to experience.

I'm pretty sure LG doesn't have any larger glossy panels. They don't have any listed on their site anyway. Did a little research to double check and found a lot of conversations with people trying to find 24" LG glossy monitors and nobody was able to come up with one.
