Sony SZ also had switchable graphics... Switchable graphics isn't part of the Montevina platform (check Intel for more details). Memory does not consume a lot of power. P processors don't use much less power than T series either, since most of the time the processor is in idle and both use the same 45nm process. Quad cores was going to be released anyways. X4500 is a big step up from the X3100, but still gets trashed by AMD/ATI HD 3200.
Conclusion: Montevina isn't revolutionary in any way, just a little bit better and more efficient due to the natural improvements of technology.

No, no no. The GM45 chipset can accelerate HD content on hardware by itself. It doesn't need aid.
Of course, at the moment they are having a problem with hardware so it doesn't have HD acceleration yet. But that is also why only PM45 will be available now and GM45 and GM47 later. They also need core clock to go from 475MHz to 533MHz. -

With the SZ you needed to restart the computer to switch graphics, with the Z that is no longer needed. Just close all your programs and then press the button and it is done. -
Have most companies released their Montevina laptops now then? Did the hardware refresh push up the prices for most brands that have released it or did they stay the same?
I'm kinda holdin out for the Dell XPS refresh but not sure yet. Is Montevina easy to find with other brands of laptop in the UK yet? -

Dell is one of the last. HP, Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, Asus, Lenovo, Acer and others all have released info on their Centrino 2 notebooks.
To know if it is Montevina, make sure it is a P series processor (P7350, P8400, P8600, P9500) or T9400/T9600. -
The Apple MBA uses a P series processor but it's not Montevina. Just because companies release info on their new laptops doesn't mean you can actually order them and if you can order them, when exactly will you get it...

Sorry, could someone clarify this for me:
Why isn't there a PM47? -
No it doesn't... It uses a Small form factor CPU. The cpu-core is still 65nm, but it uses the package of 45nm cpu. The MBA CPU's are called SP7500 and SP7700.

I hear the 47 series are twice as capacious as the 45!!
So why has this advance been made with the integrated chipsets only?
Montevina/Centrino2 will be released this Monday! [All Centrino 2 disscusion here]
