Okay so the montevina chips are out and im about to build a montevina based laptop and was wondering what is the main difference with the P8400/P8600 and the P9300/9400/9500? I feel like apart from the doubled cache and faster clocks, there isn't anything else amiss? and are they worth the 100-200 dollar difference?

Of course i could be missing something huge; my laptop will be mainly used for college and gaming.

Looks like you understand exactly what is going on. Are they worth it? Depends. P8300 and P8400 would be enough for most people and their tasks. Unless you extreme Game, encode a lot or photoshop like a madman doubt you will see any difference.

The extra cache is sweet, but really I doubt you'll ever notice much of a difference. Go with the 8*** and put the money towards a worthier upgrade or important accessory imo.

The T's have 35w TDP all P's have 25w TDP including those you mentioned. Intel has a great system designed to confuse people. Remember T vs P and you will be fine. ;)

sushiboi main difference in gaming I would say. Is hardcore gamers have tendency to strive for the best even bleeding edge, high cost minimal return. Most games would not stress any of the CPU's mentioned a few might show a little improvement. Bleeding edge is expensive. I avoid having once been there. I really think what thunder and I said is good advice. If you want to move up a bit go for it. I would always stay away from the one that makes the big jump. 100Mhz $300 extra. Just opinions. Oh and did not mean to insult gamers if you are out there. :)

Good choice. A game like sup com might stress your CPU quite a bit depending, but your average shooter hardly maxes any CPU, it's all GPU dependant.
