I have a 1.66 ghz core solo processor and 512mb of ram... I am getting more into video editing, and I would like to run Adobe Premiere Elements 4 on my computer. I have photoshop, and it runs rather slow. My question is if I upgrade the ram to 1gb will these programs run okay, or is the processor just too slow?

1gb probably won't be enough. i'd just get a new comp. a core solo isn't really any good for video editing, although if u had a fast hd that might make up for it. :)

Really depends on what you define as "OK." I would get some more memory and just start saving for a new machine. The new memory should work in the next computer assuming you have a semi-modern computer.

Need more RAM. But yeah, probably just a new computer would be a better option.

If you can afford it, a better computer. A Core Solo isn't a CPU with much life left, if any at all.

If you don't have a lot to spend and you mostly edit video at home, you should consider a desktop - it'll save you 50%

its true u cud save tons through buying a desktop (or preferably building your own desktop), although you would be sacrificing portability.

I overlooked the fact that you are a " soon-to-be mac owner ", so obviously you have money to blow :). You are gonna want 4 gb ram and, more importantly, all the cores you can afford.
