Hi
I read over a month ago (Super Talent introduced a sub-$300 126GB 2.5-inch, SATA II for $299.
Do you think SSDs will show up in some mainstream/consumer high-end notebooks in 09? Meaning more options from (DELL, ACER and HP etc) also does anyone think they will be offered in 09 at some point in, retail stores Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Max, Staples notebooks?
I would think at least good quality lower capacity SSDs 64GB, 72GB would be offered more in mainstream Notebooks in combination with Standard HD. Say as a Primary Disk SSD (64GB, 72GB) use to boot the Windows or Apple OS and can use the Larger Capacity Standard HD to store stuff.
I recently saw a 128GB SSD/Standard 7200RPM HD Combination on a Toshiba Notebook review on this site.
Thanks for any comments

Most definitely they will start showing up more as the price starts to be pushed down. In 2008 SSDs started at 64GB and we are leaving the year with 256GB SSDs. If SSDs kept the same pace for 2009 they would outpace the current magnetic hard drives. So over time they will just continue to get cheaper and more for all consumers rather than just enthusiasts.

Yes. There are already some SSD alternatives that border on reasonable pricing and size (they're just a factor of 2 away from being competitive). Once they work out the controller kinks, I suspect we'll see them go mainstream.
I am not sure whether this will happen or not. It goes against the power saving and motion insensitiveness aspects of SSDs and may introduce its own problems. More importantly, it doesn't look like it will be worth it because the SSDs are already getting quite large -- 256GB for MLC and 128GB for SLC. I expect these to at least double over the course of 2009.
More SSD?s options in notebooks in ?09??
