Hey Guys,
I'm having some thoughts about upgrading my RAM from 2gb to 4gb, is that Possible? what is the best Ram to get? will it make difference? is it easy to install?
-
If your motherboard supports 4GB, your good.
The best ram to get is ram that fits.
I would stick with brand name ram.
Really easy to install, pop door open, pop ram out, pop in and close.
Good idea to run MemTest86+ to check for errors on new ram.

thanks guys, but i think the AW m9750 Napa motherboard can only see 2.5g of Ram, so is the 512 more Ram worth it?
-
I think your most recent motherboards can handle 3 or 4GB expect that only 64bit MS OSs can take more than around 3.5.
If you have some money to spare to buy a 2GB and a 512MB stick and you really really need that much more ram, then go for it. I wouldnt personally. -
Do you really need more RAM ? I mean do you experience problems with your games & applications? Normally 2GB is enough, but more RAM is better. -
I thought we over this.
Notebooks with a mobile 945 chipset (Napa platform) can only see up to 3GBs of RAM.... even though you can occupy 2 x 2GB in the slots.
It is due to the low-level limitation of the chipset. So no matter which OS you use, it will not matter.
The current Santa Rosa platform notebooks (mobile 965 chipset) can see the 4GBs fine. -
so if i go replace 1 of my 1 gig cards with 2 gigs will Vista 32-bit even see them? xD

I have an m9750 with 4GB of RAM, but it will only recognize 2.5GB. As Gophn pointed out, it's due to the Napa Valley chipset. Figured you'd want to hear it from an m9750 owner who has 4GB installed, but has the limit.
And I have XP and Vista installed on my m9750. =P
And yes, you could have a 1+2GB solution to put in 3GB of RAM, but it will still be limited to 2.5GB. Also, you lose memory speed by not using matched pairs for the DDR. -
omg never mind then it will be the true suffer
More ram for my Alienware m9750
