I'm still currently debating whether I want a GT80 or P870, and one of the key deciding factors is the 4K screen. Is the layout of the mounting screws standardized for 17 inch screens, and would it be feasible to 3D print a bracket to mount one in the GT80?

Between 17.3" the screws are standardised, yes. That does not apply to the bracket; you need something to bridge the gap. The best option (mechanically) to fit a 17.3" lcd would be to make a hybrid GT70-GT80 hinge:

From the looks of it, the GT80 has the same left-to-right hinge distance as the 17.4", except using wider flanges to offset the brackets. If you're lucky then you may even re-use the two innermost holes of the GT80 hinge to mount the bracket and dremel/hacksaw-off the rest of the flange.

However, this will only work for a 17.3" LVDS display (which are all 1200p or less on laptops). The GT80 is an LVDS system and the (presumably) 100% Adobe RGB 4k you want uses eDP interface. There are converter boards, but these are fairly large and need a separate 12V supply. They'd also limit eDP display to 1200p, since the system can't output higher resolution over a single LVDS socket/connector (4k LVDS desktop monitors use dual connectors/cables).

The keyboard mod will be hard too, but at least that's theoretically feasible.
