Hi, I'm interested in getting this SLC SATA SSD from Mtron:

I don't know much about SSDs so if anyone's got experience or knowledge of this SSD, that would be nice. What type of "controller" does it use, and is it a reliable controller? I hear certain ones are prone to failing. I am aware of it being 16 GB and SLC, which is fine with me since I barely use hard drive space. Thanks for reading.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Eh, Mtron drives are a little bit dated at this point in time. They've got performance just a little faster than the Samsung RBX series (~100/100MB/s @ sequential, ~5MB/s @ 4k) but still carry a significant price premium. That's not slow by any means, and I've never heard anything bad concerning reliability, but there are faster and larger drives out there for the same price.
You can probably still find a 32GB Indilinx-based drive at $140; it'll be twice as big and twice as fast, and despite being MLC, it'll probably last longer than you care to use it anyway. -
Do you know what type of "controller" they use? Is it their own (Mtron) or is it based on something like jmicron/indilinx/etc.?

Mtron uses it's own controller.

Oh okay, cool.

No reason not to buy Intel IMO. They even have a 40gb one for $130 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10011743&prodlist=celebros

Hmm, interesting... Any difference between this and the Kingston one? Aside from branding, of course.

Oh wow. I didn't know intel had any SSDs in that price range (assumed that intel charged over 200 for anything). Thanks for the link

direct support from intel, that means they will release firmware updates for it. afaik, the kingston won't get those updates (and thus won't get trim, while this one maybe allready has?)
btw: the mtron is much faster than a samstung in daily usage. still, get an intel, they are even more fast. -
I would get the intel one... although it is the most expensive , it has the best performance and reliablity...
