    Hello,

I've got Black Ops from Steam. But I am unable to play it. Someone suggested to enable Multi Processing and it'll work. And it really did. (continued after specs)

    PC Specs:
    Toshiba Satellite x200
    Windows 7,
    Intel Core 2 duo 2.20ghz T7500,
    2GB Memory,
    Nvidia 8700m GT

After enable "MultiProcessing" in my BIOS. I changed the processors from "1" to "2" in boot.ini using msconfig. And the game started to work. But after playing it for a few minutes I got a Blue Screen:

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    0x0000000a

I think I am doing it wrong.

This is how I did it (step by step)

    1. Enabled Multi Processing in BIOS.
    2. Enabled "2" processors in Boot.ini using msconfig and restarted PC.
    3. And the game worked!

The game worked for a few minutes but I got a Blue Screen (see above). I also used to get Blue Screen for no reason when Multi Processing was enabled. But after disabling Multi Processing everything went back to normal.

I think I am not doing it the right way or my PC doesn't support this?

Is there any specific of enable Multi Processing or Multi cores?

    Thanks in advance.

As the T7500 is a Core2Duo with 2 cores using of both cores should be enabled by default. Get "Who Crashed" for further analyses of the BSOD.
Maybe its another component which fails(memory, graphic, old driver?, etc)

Do a clean install of the OS with multiproccesing enabled in BIOS from the beginning.
Why did you deactivate it in the past?

Edit: You can also try the upgrade path during OS Installation. Your installed programs remain installed.
You have to apply all Microsoft updates after reinstall!

    It was disabled by default.

If I enable it and try to install Windows it won't work. The PC restarts when it gets to the loading screen. :(

Sounds strange to me. I would suggest you to update your BIOS, if any update is available, then do a clean install with multiproccesing enabled as maximinimaus said.

You should also note that your PC seems to be a little below the minimum requirements, so even when you get it running, it might not be too great. (Then again, mine is just barely above said requirements but runs it perfectly on medium settings at 720p.) Though, that wouldn't cause the BSoD, I felt it was worth mentioning.

Strange.. But, does it just restart over and over again if you try to install your OS with Multi processing enabled?

Yes, and some times it will freeze.

I have Windows 7 installed now and both the cores are enabled. Everything is fine when with both the cores enabled. But when I launch something heavy (like a game) then I get a BSOD or the PC restarts without any warning.

I see the X200 was initially delivered with Vista. Did you experience the same behaviour with Vista? Did you check the Windows logs for any warnings or errors? Is the PC getting too hot?

My laptop came with Vista Home Basic and Multi Processing is only available in Vista Ultimate. I never tried Multi Processing with Vista.
