Any idea when/where this will be available for Dell laptops?

Don't know.

Thanks for the news!
w00t!

multi touch is kinda useless.
If your touchpad has tap zones or scrolling things than their is really no use for it.
I dont understand how it will be helpful to have two finger support for the touchpad.

This would be great. I love multi touch. Great for zooming and going to the previous webpage.
-
after watching the video's I see how much more pointless it is.
If you like it fine, but I think its not very useful. Tapzones and scrolling works better and more efficiently with only one finger.
Plus my touchpad is like 4 x the size

Why does it work better with only one finger?
Isn't it easier to misstakenly tap or scroll with one finger instead of two?
It's nicer and MUCH smoother with a more sensitive touchpad, i've had to change my touchpad to less sensitive so i don't misstakenly tap or so when i have my hands laying over the keyboard or such, typing aint a problem as there is an inactivate touchpad while typing-setting. -
as a mac user i see multitouch as a very useful tool
-scrolling is done with 2 fingers, no accidental scrolling
-zooming with speading to fingers apart is awesome, especially when looking as a web site that has small text
-rotating is a neat feature that i have yet to use much.
-3 finger swipes as a back/forward or undo/redo, yes this is available as a corner tap on most pcs but that is wasted trackpad space -
when you have big fingers like me, you will see that scrolling and rotating or whatever with 2 fingers is a hassel

Did anyone get this working?
I'v got an Asus A6000 with Synaptics touchpad V6.1. I just installed the newest drivers but I don't see anyhting about multi touch gestures. -
i got two finger scrolling working on inspiron 700m. i'm using driver 10.2.4 from acer thread. touchpad is v6.2
link http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=218872
note that after you install the driver, there is no synaptics pointing device icon in the system tray by default, and you have to go to control panel --> mouse to turn chiralscroll on. -
Sounds like another possible option for those who would want to use it. I'd test it out for sure just to see if I'd like it.
-
Edit: yes it works now! thanks a lot. -
This link has a vid of it in use on a Voodoo:

just wanted to mention that i see no option for chiral rotate.
not that i know any application that can use it though... -
I've just used two finger slide to go back to the previous web page. -
I see the option and have enabled it, but i have no idea how and what to use it on...LOL
Also I have got multi touch working on my 8510p, i can increase and decrease volume and change songs i am playing. Now I just need to figure out how to use chiral scroll.
-
Yeah me too, no idea how to use the chiral scroll.
So many options now, I need to take some time to learn them all. -
hehe, I can use the three finger scrolling too.
I use it to minimise and maximise, also to full screen a window.
-
How do you use it to adjust the volume?
-
There was the option of sliding 2 fingers up or down, and you can pick increase/decrease volume for it.
-
Some good videos here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShmqUHR7RO0&feature=related
Zooming does not work with mine though.
-
chiral scroll just - put two fingers together and do a circle clockwise or anti-clockwise to scroll
but you need both horizontal and vertical scrolling enabled(edit2: you don't)
edit: is there a checkbox somewhere in the options for zooming? -
-
the circalscroll is awesome, maybe ill use my pad more now instead of mouse..
anyway, i dont know any other features to use correctly
any quick help? -
Two finger horizontal swipe to the left > backward in FF and IE.
right > forward.
Two finger swipe downward > scroll down.
