So far this is the only mSATA SSD that uses Toshiba Toggle memory;the rest use cheaper async.

I'm curious about this drive too, seems like the only available >200GB mSATA drive at the moment. $320 is a pretty decent price given the rarity.

msata uses sata ports, either sata III or sata II, its not up to msata to choose which speed. sataII and III dependent on the chipset. each motherboard has 1 chipset controller that has 2 sataIII and rest sataII or I

I believe the mSATA on the x17 R4 is SATA II.

The Super Raid adapter in the MSI GT60 and GT70 Super Raid models is SATA III.

The adapter cannot be purchased separately for those that bought the MST GT60 and GT70 without Super Raid.

Also it has 2 SanDisk U100 64GB mSATA SSDs in RAID0 array. There's no option to buy with different mSATA SSDs.

Anyone know of any reviews for this card, specifically the 128GB model? The price seems really amazing for the specifications listed.

    I have two thinkpads. T520 and T530.
One of them has a 240 GB Mushkin mSATA in PCI express slot and the other has a 120 GB mSATA. IMHO, these are the absolute best. They increased my boot times and file read times so much, my eyes cant even catch the speed. :)
Simply get one of these. Put your OS onto them and leave the rest such as photos, videos etc on HDD and you will see the diff.
I used a cloning software to move OS around and stuff. Was a pain as I did not want to clean install.
I used Partition Tool Free Partition Magic alternative & free Partition Manager Software for Windows PC, Workstation and Server - EaseUS.

The Intel Series 6 and Series 7 chipsets support only 2 SATA 3 6GB/S devices.

If the notebook maker wired each of the 2 internal SATA bays for SATA III then the mSATA slot is only going to be SATA II 3GB/S.

If your notebook has only one SATA bay and an mSATA Slot the slot must be wired for SATA III.

New Sager and Alienware mSATA are SATA II 3GB/S.

MSI has a SATA III mSATA slot in the GE60 and GE70.

The MSI Super Raid models have an adapter fitted into the primary drive bay that get both SATA III wired into the same SATA bay.Because of this all non Super Raid MSI notenooks with the 16F3 motherboard will have only one internal SATA bay with SATA III.

BTW,Mushkin is dropping the price of the Altas Deluxe to be more competitive.

The 240GB Mushkin Atlas Deluxe is $239.99 at the Egg.

Crucial 256GB M4 mSATA SSD is $225 directly from Crucial.

Could you explain that a little more? Not quite sure what it means. Which models have the 16F3 board? I currently have a Whitebrand version of the Ge-60 which CPU-Z lists the board as M-16GA. I like to think that it has a SATA3 slot like the GE-60 because they are identical in every other regard.

You can't use the other mSATA SSD... the only ext storage device that takes mSATA is Drobo.

    auto-answer

the micro sata is not the same as mSata (mini-sata), so, i cant use that enclousure with the msata without an msata to micro sata adapter, and i couldnt find any on ebay, damn, $9 bucks wasted, i will reject the delivery and i will get a full refund (w/o shipping).

i will buy an msata adapter and a 2.5" usb 3.0 case to use the stock msata drive

Can anyone who has this comment on the operating temperatures? So far the only thing I've found is a reference to it running hot:

Mushkin Enhanced Forums • View topic - Atlas 240 mSata heat issues

I am looking to put this into an Envy 14 Spectre, and since the msata ports are located under the palmrest I'd rather not have something that idles at 65 C down there.

My 240GB mSATA is running at or less than 43 degree C for the past 70-90 days. No issues whatsoever. I bought a second one too. Go ahead, get one for yourself today!
