NHC for CPU I think - if possible.
    Rivatuner for GPU.

OCing the cpu is much more difficult on the notebook

normally you OC the cpu in bios, but most manufactures lock the ocing on the cpu

very dangerous to OC the cpu, i would recommend against it.

gpu is relatively much easier and as mentioned, riva tuner will work with it

might want to download an omega driver too for the added boost

    1. Get rid of Catalyst Control Center

    2. Install ATI Tray Tools

    3. Use ATI Tray Tools to OC

(ATT brings the same or more tools than CCC and only eats 5 to 10mb of RAM compared to CCC which can take up 20-40mb.)

usapatriot, i think he said he has a G1, which has the 7700 go, not the G2 with the x1700...

Um...why would you want to OC the CPU? You'll get no increase in gaming performance if you do---the 7700, despite being the best GPU of the 15.4" notebook class, will still be the bottleneck.

Again, you will not see a difference, and messing with the clock multiplier of your CPU to increase the speed will disrupt the fine-tuned timing of your system and result in minimal gains.

The desktop versions are easy to overclock, but the laptop ones aren't.

Eh...hope you already have some experience with OC'ing the GPU. The rule of thumb is to take it easy, and check for artifacts every time you increase the processor/memory frequencies. If you get video corruption, screen freezes, screen blackouts, etc. then you went too far. Hopefully you'll get a feel for it, but just take it easy and don't go through the roof or try to match the "best OC on the Internet" for your 7700 on the first try.

ya i'm prtty sure i went a little 2 far the first time, i went from 450/400 to 511/451, and halo froze, then i took it back 499/449 then it froze again...and now i'm gonn go 1 mhz a day...we'll c how it works

Well a good rule of thumb is to go 10 Mhz at a time and work it up that way. Also, try to keep the ratio the same, so that if it was 450/400 for a 9:8 ratio then try to keep it at nearly a 9:8 ratio when you overclock. You don't have to go 1Mhz a day, just do it incrementally. There are dedicated threads to overclocking in the gaming forum here, perhaps you could consult that for guidance.

Ok i was wondering, if i oc my gpu 50mhz over(over time), and if i want to save battery some time i clock it back down 50mhz (instantly). Will this be ok?

and 2nd, when i want it back up, can i clock it back to 50mhz instantly, or do i have to start all over again?

o and btw i got a GF go 7700 if it makes any difference

if you have the correct utility (should be in properties) you can instantly change the clock settings without a problem. I have an ATi and thats how mine works but it should be the same.

dr4gon, i'm using Riva tuner as the utility to oc

@ usapatriot, i'm saying oc it 50mhz over, its 450/400 ocing 500/450 (eventually)

but when its 500/450 can i instantly change it back and then up again without problems?

You can create hotkeys that will automatically overclock when you press them.

I know i can do that in ati tool and ati tray tools. But i think coolbits and rivatuner can do it as well.

but what i want to know is if this wil hurt the system...when i oc'd it too much too fast it went crazy, wil this happen when "i want to save battery some time i clock it back down 50mhz (instantly).
