I have my 5920G for a year now, and it has always done the job verry well. Now I get artifacts when idling and afther an hour, maybe 2, I get artifacts all over the screen and have to reboot (this is non-oc, so my gpu is just damaged)
I've oc'd my 9500 to the max before, reached 5234 3dmarks (06) at 1200x800, which is an astounishing result for a mid-range gpu. Now, i cant to upgrade it because:
    1) it's damaged
    2) I like wasting money on new stuff
    3) I want better performance and more possibilities.

What i want to ask you guys is, Is it worth upgrading it? Or will i just be wasting money? Also will it be stupid to replace it in a year-old laptop, instead of just saving up for a new one?
Also, what card should i upgrade to? I've heard alot about HD 4650 but i can't seem to find it, no one sells it.

    Please reply~

Before you write the card off completely. Have you checked your temperatures using HWmonitor? Maybe they are sky high. Check for dust blocking vents and apply some new thermal compound on the GPU too. I see you use ICD7 so no need for me to recommend you to use it. Also have to tried a different driver. Although unlikely drivers can become corrupted over time.

I recommend checking the thread in the acer section by tehsuigi about mxm cards for acer laptops. Maybe PM him about what upgrade possibilities and where to get the cards from.

I know tehsuigi's topic about the mxm stuff and all that.
Yes I ALWAYS monitor my temperatures with gpu-z AND speedfan. the max i go is 78°c in furmark (the most demanding test there is)

and about 73 in 3dmark06. this is non-oc.

and dust blocking the vents? lol. I took my backplate off and just placed it onto my NZXT cryo LX (3 fans) this is giving me a drop of 10-20 degrees :)

It's not temperature, its propably my memory module on my vga that's broken due to 25% oc

Keep in mind the 9500M is effectively a die shrink of the 8600m GT ... the same card that experienced massive issues in terms of soldering and dying off prematurely, so your problems might be connected to that (as I think it was stated the problem was NOT corrected on those and that they remain as potentially affected) ... but I also wouldn't necessarily exclude the possibility that your over clocking the gpu contributed to the issue you are experiencing right now.

If your laptop is under warranty, I would simply suggest you send it back for repairs (and of course restore the card to it's default clocks before doing so) and hold onto the card for a while longer.
However, if the laptop is not under warranty, then you might want to consider getting the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 (in DDR3 flavour if possible) as a replacement card and install it in place of your old one.
You'll get a performance boost for one thing, and a cooler card, one that is likely not susceptible to the same issue as Nvidia's gpu's.

thx for the reply, this helped. Though, my laptop is not under warranty anymore + i applied different thermal paste and replaced a few parts already, so acer will say my warranty is broken.
Anyway, i'm not willing to send it back, because all they do is a bios upgrade and a hdd replacement like before. I'm going to order the hd 4650, but the ddr2 version. The ddr3 version is pretty hard to get, as it was only used in rare laptop model and they don't sell them sepperatly. I already have the 4650 ready to order on a replacement site, all i have to do is pay for the thing -.- (200 euros :( )
I hope it will be worth it.

Also I ordered a copper sheet to fill the gap between the core and heatsink, since the 4650 is thinner as it seems.

Sorry for my bad language, i'm dutch. (lol)

    Thanks for helping :)
