is this crashing definitely connected to the 830 SSD?
Can i do anything to prevent this occasional crashing/rebooting/ blue screen ?

    thanks

Did you ever get around to checking if you got the boot record, on your used Samsung 830 SSD, reset from Apple to MBR?

While it was suggested that you do this, my bet is that you didn't check it.

To the OP (a.k.a. at11), gparted shows something like 8 or 9 different boot record choices; since your Samsung 830 SSD was purchased used (by you), my bet is that it still has a boot record of either "mac" or "GPT" whereas what you want is "ms-dos" (a.k.a. MBR).

After booting via gparted (either bootable CD or bootable USB stick), and now within the gparted GUI:

    1. to see boot record of each drive: view > device information

    2. to change boot record of a drive: device > create partition table > advanced

There was a crash associated with resuming from sleep on the 830 like last year's Jan, and that was just weeks after release the firmware fix was out and its been solid without the BSOD from then on since the firmware was updated.

CXM03B1Q Is the latest firmware, you can use either magician or CrystalDisk Info to check the firmware version. If you've got something older, flash the latest firmware.

If you need to obtain the firmware, you can find it on SAMSUNG's Digital World

So it can possibly be the 830 if the firmware's the old one.

Any reason why no one thinks this could be a memory issue (RAM). I have no idea why I say this other than it looks like maybe? Pull out sticks and test. Costs you nothing, free test.

What is the BSOD code? that may give you clues as to what is the problem. I'm suspecting RAM problems as the Samsung 830 was quite solid (provided it has the latest firmware and wasnt a bad sample).

    thanks so much other songs,
    i completely forgot about gparted

but i burnt it to cd and booted it abd guess what .. you were right, the ssd drive was mac/GPT, so i formatted it to ms-dos
so far so good, no blue screens

do you think this will now make the ssd work faster/better performance?
was there anthing else you'd recommend?

i installed magician v4 so hopefully this will help maintain the ssd

marksman, i think we'v sorted the problem now, but if i get the error again i will try your suggestion

    thanks
