Today I've been having alot of problems with my dvd drive and now it's not working.

First, I noticed that it wouldn't always read dvds when I put them in. I would have to put a dvd in twice before it would read it. Then I was in the middle of ripping a dvd with dvdshrink 3.2 and it just stopped working altogether; I couldn't even open by pressing the button. I had to put a paperclip in the little hole on the side. The bios detected it when I turned it on, but when I go into My Computer, it doesn't show up. It's also automatically ejecting.

Update: as I am writing this, I popped it back in after it ejected and I can hear it spinning. Also, I didn't start having these issues until I started using dvdshrink 3.2

Does anybody have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

New update: just restarted my computer; it's working again. very strange

I would take it out and re-seat it, also cleaning up the laser reader.

    cheers ...
