Defrag will use up space temporarily as a swap file. It will return when you restart.

System restore will use up space periodically. You can clean this using Disk Cleanup

Swap file, temp files and system restore. Run a Disk Cleanup and watch your space magically re-appear. Just make sure you select the option to clean all but your most recent restore point. That is if you are ok with doing so.

Speaking of which, Hey Flipfire, youre pretty knowledgeable. Can you think of any reason why my restore points wont delete on Vista x64? I do a cleanup and the hard drive space remains the same. This has always worked on my other machines.

    SP1? Administrator profile?

Try flushing it out using the cmd prompt. You can also downsize the shadow copy capacity. (just google the commands :D). Make sure all your security programs are disabled.

Also try typing vsp1cln.exe on your cmd prompt.

Im suprised Ccleaner hasnt included Restore points as an option.

This may be of some help, as well. I found it upon googling for the command prompt commands. Shadow copy had reserved almost 50gb space, to which I dropped to 10gb. Thanks for your suggestion flip!
