Are you sure the "full speed" isn't its lowest speed?

speedfan is only good for desktops.. not notebooks.

the reason why the fan would spin up is the system detects high temperatures for one or more of your components.

please visit the NBR Cooling Central

when was the last time you cleaned out the vent/fans from clogged dust?

also, you better NOT be using the notebook on a soft surface (bed, couch, pillow, lap, etc) which would be blocking the bottom fan/vents to properly intake air to cool down the system.

how do you clean it? i've sprayed compressed air into the vent.

task manager says 48 processes, 14% cpu usage, 45% physical memory

    is the problem there?

uncensored410, do you go to SFSU? You sound like someone I know.

Try everything you can: routine cleaning and maintenance, undervolting, notebook cooler, optimizing your OS and software, etc.

Are Sony notebooks really that hard to open up? Your fan is probably in need of cleaning.

But yeah, idling at 58° is what's causing your fan to constantly run at high RPM.

sony's tz series notebooks are pretty hard to open, imo.

some bursts of compressed air directly in the vents and fans... goes a long way. :)

    temp should idle around 40-50C

Is this 14% cpu usage a long time average or just a spike? If it is averaging at 14%, there should be something wrong as mine averages on 0% when idling. (I am using Vista Business Edition)

The Tempuature is a little warmer than it should be, that could be the cause.

Try Undervolting, via the Undervolting Guide.
It can lower your temps and stop the fan from always running on a high setting. ;)
