She needs it for quick books and word processing and doesn't have the best eyesight. She's looking for something that is no more than $200. Also, she's not sure if she should go for widescreen or not. All help is appreciated. Thanks.

^^ Dell/Samsung monitors are quite nice. Opt for the Ultrasharp though better brightness and clarity.

Hmm in that price range it's hard to say. I would need to see them in person I can't say which is better over the other. They will be low end TN panels which are fine for accounting and Word. But what you want is to get something with the least backlight bleed, best viewing angles (or least worst viewing angles), decent colour and good crispness. However in store displays at Best Buy etc... are rarely dedicated to one machine so it's often difficult to tell.

A couple that I would look at are:

    HP W2007
    Acer p191w

Ditto. Sadly Acers are great for the class under Mitsubishi/LG/Samsung and the Sharp (best monitors but only available in japan for 2k+)

For longest lasting Id have to recommend View sonic. I have one of their CRTs which has been running for the last 8 years or more 24/7 and still crisper then most lcds. I also have many friends with old Viewsonic LCDs.
