As I can't get attention to my problem, I'm hoping I'll get some responses on this thread:

So, yeah, suddenly part of the monitor became like this:

Any ideas on what's wrong and if there is a solution (please laptop god)?

The flash isn't helping... do you mean the fact that the top third of your screen is lighter than the rest? If so, is it always like that, or can you move the screen back and forth on the hinges and it will sometimes correct itself? If so, then chances are good it's a pinched display cable. In that case, you need to disassemble your notebook and shift the cable around so it doesn't get pinched. If that's not the case, you mat wish to try re-seating the cable anyway; you may just have a loose connection.

    Thanks for the reply!

Actually, there's a dark area on the lower middle right portion of the screen. I've verified that it is the display/monitor itself. It's like that portion doesn't have the LCD lit up or something.

I'll try the hinges method that you recommended.

    Thanks again!

Anybody else have an idea of what's going on?

Well if it's it any problems i mention a lcd replacement is needed. But first thing i would try is plugging in a crt monitor to see if problem shows up on crt.If it doesnt, then you might have a loose or pinched cable but most likely need to replace lcd screen.

i'd check the LCD cable first... i really thinking its a dead screen... u'll need a screen replacement for sure.
