I tried two different mouses and both don't seem to fit in the usb port? The port hasn't been damaged at all or used. Neither has the mouses I bought...![]()
-
If possible, pictures?
And how does it not fit? -
it's either upside down or you're tyring to stick it in the wrong port
-
im going to say it now... LOL
-
To coriolis
I try to put the mouse into the port and it's not going in. Both of the mouses worked fine with my other two desktops. -
USB is not ever round. What you have there is a PS2 mouse. You're probably trying to stick your mouse in the video out.
-
If, in fact, this is a USB mouse and a USB port that we're working with here, have you tried plugging different USB items into the USB port on the laptop, does it work? How about plugging the mouse into a different USB port on the same laptop?
-
Does this look like
or
Also what mouse is it? -
Yeah, I hope you're not trying to put a PS2 mouse plug into an S-Video Out. That could screw up both the plug and the port....
On my desktop, when plugging and unplugging a PS2 keyboard, I accidentally broke the pins off into the port. Ruined both and was forced to go with USB. Laptops don't (typically) use PS2 ports. -
-
Oh my bad yeah I don't know what it is called.... yeah it looks like the one with the blue background.. I think it's the mouse port?
-
Dude, there is NO PS/2 mouse port on the MW1. Stop trying to jam it into your poor S-video port. It's not going to work.
-
the one with the blue background you mentioned, is a PS2 point. like another poster has already said, most probably you are trying to plug in a PS2 mouse in a S-Video Out port, as they both are similar in shape. USB connectors look like the bottom pic Coriolis posted. Most of the new laptops dont have PS2 or printer port, like they used to have. So, first make sure, your laptop indeed has a PS2 port, if not then get an USB mouse, which will fit into the USB port of your laptop.
edit: i wan't sure, but since flanken said, there is no PS2 port in MW1, get an USB mouse, that's your only option. -
You should either get a new mouse, or buy a PS2 to USB converter
-
Get a new mouse. These converters suck ***.
-
expensive too, it's like $12 a pop!
-
Oh crap, everything those other guys said~! You could damage both the video out and your mouse.
I hope you didn't actually fit it partially in, because then something's gotta be broke now.
Yes, just go out and get a really cheap usb optical mouse. I think you can pick one up for like 20 bucks now.
Yes, those adapters are really expensive, I have a few at home though from here and there.
AzN your name suggests you are asian. COME ON NOW ASIAN BROTHER/SISTER~! You should know better
Haha I'm just joshin' yah.
Just go out and get a new mouse everything will be fine. K? K.
Cheers,

This reminds me of the time a girl brough her laptop and the security lock into the store where I work last year because she couldn't get the lock into the whole. What whole, you ask? Oh, no, not the security lock whole. That would be too logical. She was convinced the lock went into the S-Video port.
-
I suggest, cheese and a mouse-trap...that's as cheap as it will get.
-
I think we're all very confused. I would suggest taking a picture of the actual port your trying to put the plug in and also take a picture of the plug of your mouse.
-
I think only you are confused, Lil Mayz. Well, maybe the OP as well.
-
LOL you guys are hilarious.
-
Yep... It is pretty clear. Wrong plug in the wrong port.
Get a new mouse. Sometimes only $10.00. If you just bought the one you are trying to use make sure that it did not come with an adapter. -
I swear there's a version of this on BOFH that I read years ago.
-
There's nothing more to say here, unless we're going to start calling up the old stories about breaking the cupholder off a desktop or not being able to turn the desktop on, but you can't check and make sure the cables are plugged in properly because the lights are off due to a power failure...
AzN, re-read your manual and learn what the ports on your computer are is the lesson learned here.
My new mouse doesn't fit in my usb port?
