Hello everyone,
I have an Acer Aspire 5742ZG (p614g32mnkk) and when I turn it off, it's possible to hear that there's a buzzing sound coming from my laptop Power Cable, specifically from the transformer...
What does it mean? The cable and everything is working 100% fine though.

I read this article and I'm positive it is this... What can I do?

If you want to keep using the notebook without damaging it; a new adaptor is highly recommended.
For a circa 2011 platform though; a new or newer-ish system is probably a wiser move.WhatsThePoint and TakedaYabu like this. -
I bought a brand new power cable w/ transformer 100% compatible with OUTPUT specs, but the INPUT specs are slighty diferent but that's ok I guess.
It's working 100%!!! No low volume beeping anymore =)
Admin please mark this post as solved but don't delete it, cuz it might be useful for someone else in the futuretilleroftheearth likes this. -
What is your power source? I only get that issue when using a square sinc AC power source from a 12v to 110v power converters, while pure sine wont make that noise your describing.

This generally isn't a problem unless the sound really annoys you or it is super loud. The article you linked is completely incorrect. Most transformers make some sort of audible noise during normal operation.

Why is there audible noise in an inductor?
My 120W adapter made a similar noise. So opened it up, found the culprit inductor and swapped it for a compatible model. Completely silent now, but it'd have been fine to leave it as is, except for the annoyance factor, of course:
Soft High Pitch Whine Heard From Power Brick: Cause of Concern?
It's just a matter of resonance (an inductor carries heavy amps) and how good it was affixed to the pcb. That's why you'll find dollops of putty inside the adapter; they're there to counter resonance/vibration, but not always effectively so. And even then it's a matter of perspective, depending on the consumer's annoyance level threshold.Papusan, katalin_2003 and ALLurGroceries like this.
