Any chance I can improve my processor/upgrade? I'm on an Asus G51vx-rx05.

CPU is only 2.00GHz dual core and is usually my bottleneck. Any ideas?

Ah sorry. Thanks for the reply.

Someone said that the RX05 means that I have a Best Buy version and I can't upgrade my CPU? Or was that just people looking to upgrade to Quads?

Any way I can move this thread?

that is just for people looking to upgrade to quads, many people have upgraded their stock CPUs to higher clocked dual cores.

@Padme - Thanks for moving! Sorry.

Hmm, ok. Not sure if I should upgrade the CPU as its only new games such as BC2 and APB that really stress it. I'm not sure $400 is worth getting 800MHz increase for each core? I got this laptop for $740 lol. :D

if urs is the best buy version , quads won't work.. if it isn't , it should work.. if u have the BB version , only T9900 or P9700 will work.. T9600 is an excellent option and i would get that if u could.. its only 0.3GHz slower than T9900 and way cheaper...

no matter what version he has, unless it is the VX-A1 which initially comes with a quad, it won't support quads.

speed wise, the T9600 at 2.8GHz and 190$ is still better GHz/$ while producing a bit more heat.

Oh Lord. First we have people talking about GB/$ ratio of SSDs, now we have clockspeed/$ for CPUs.

    Madness!

Last electronic item I bought on eBay died. Anyone bought CPUs through eBay successfully? (No problems?) I'm in no hurry at the moment - will the price drop even more in a year or two do you think?

I bought my X9000 through ebay with no problems. Prices will most likely drop in a year or two, unless they become really hard to find and the demand is high.

well 190 isn't much for a better CPU.. note , u also can overclock more... and if u don't want to buy off ebay , there's the NBR marketplace here where Core 2 Duo CPU's are sold , there. newegg.com , tigerdirect.com and amazon.com sometimes if u live in US...
