So recently I bought a MyDigitalSSD 240GB (256GB) BP4 with the USB 3.0 enclosure. Just got them today and when plug it in my computer, nothing showed up. So when i went to the disk manager, it shows only 2mb unallocated. Did I get a dud? Or is there some special reformat technique that I didn't know about. Any help would be appreciate it.

Let me check if I read this correctly: you placed a mSATA into a USB enclosure to be plugged in externally to a USB 3.0 socket?

Do you have any partitions showing on the drive - highlighted blue border?

I would think it might be blank, in that case you'll need to create a partition and assign a drive letter. You can have it do a quick format when you reach that section.

there's none, only the unallocated in gray. Also, there isn't any option to create partition or assign a drive letter. Also no option for format.

How big is this area in gray? is the unallocated to the right, should be black, 2MB or 2GB?

Right clicking the empty area should give you the option to create a new simple volume, do this to create a partition which will initialize the drive.

Geez, that looks a bit weird. Though I hardly ever do anything within the GUI.
You could try diskpart and see if it displays the drive's true size.

Open Command prompt as Admin (right click), type: diskpart. When it shows diskpart then type: list disk

    Last thing I could suggest,

Unplug all USB devices. Shutdown then cold power start the computer. Attach the drive and see if it recognizes it differently this time.
If it is the same thing again then try in Computer Management - Menu /Action /Rescan Disks.
If that doesn't help then you'll have to wait for someone else to give another idea(s) or call the Mfr.

I think it's a dud - but try to Initialize it (right click on the 'Disk 2' area).

The SSD is still alive the controller reset. This happens very rarely (5-8 cases in 3 years). It is so rare that we cannot reproduce the problem to figure out what is happening. We think It is caused by a power surge. We can reboot the controller in house. Would be glad to cross ship a new one and we will fix that one later. Contact supportatmydigitalssddotcom.
