I have a i9400 with a 6 cell battery 53Whr and I was wondering if having this battery instead of the 9 cell one affects the performance of the laptop.

The only thing the bigger 9-cell battery gives you is more battery life.

Having a bigger battery will not harm your performance. It might harm your back though :D

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't want to create another topic so I will post it here.

Does reformatting my lappy voids the warranty?

That totally doesn't make sense to me. Stupid manufacturers like Dell voiding warranties because people upgraded their cpus????

How would that affect the rest of the laptop?? If the CPU burns out because they didn't install it correctly wouldn't warrant Dell responsible, but the user would just contact Intel or AMD because they have a 3 year warranty with them.

    Stewwwwwwwwwpid manufacturers.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Upgrading the CPU requires you to disassemble and reassemble a large portion of the notebook. There could be a significant risk of screwing up something more than just the CPU. Manufacturers don't want to be responsible. I can understand that.
