    Hi all -

I will soon be purchasing the HP Mini 5103. There are two options, the N475 which is a single core at 1.83, and the N550 which is a dual core at 1.5.

Performance wise, the N550 probably has the edge overall, even though the N475 probably is better at single tasks. It doesn't make much of a difference to me.

My concern in battery life. I want to squeeze out as many minutes as possible. Which of these two chips will have better overall battery life, and by how many percent?

    Thank you....

Under full load, the N475 will get 31% more battery life according to the TDP ratings, but for some reason I am unable to find the idle wattages of either processors. Why Intel doesn't publish idle power is beyond me.

Also note that if you have good eyes, the 1366x768 display upgrade is recommended.

Thanks for the reply. Would you venture a ballpark estimate as far as the idle power usage?

Thanks for the info about the 1366x768 display. That's actually one of the reasons I'm getting the 5103. (It's interesting that with all the gazillions of netbooks, there aren't all that many that have a hi-res screen. And if you also want a 7200 rpm hd, and bluetooth, and a matte 10 inch screen, Windows 7 premium, there's exactly one option - the 5103).

I also wonder how much of a bump (on average) in battery life there would be if wifi is turned off....

I am also thinking if I should get the broadcom crystal hd decoder. Will that provide better or worse battery life, while I am watching HD and while I am not?
