My brother's n870hp6 (from HIDevolution) - a while ago it stopped charging. It kept running on battery power though (until the battery ran out). Then we opened it up and found a burnt chip on the motherboard, close to the power jack. Anyone know what could have caused this? Only the original charger was used.
And I'm thinking of replacing the burnt IC which appears to read B20 P03 JIK1603 - (a Power MOSFET?). Because the best that the manufacturer could do is replace the whole mobo which will probably be like 2/3 of the laptop price itself. Anyone seen this happen before? 20190221_1804002.jpg

Take it to a local technician. They could do that repair for less than $50 plus the cost of the new part in 20 minutes or less if nothing else is fried too. ;)
