hi guys, im new to this forum and upgrading laptops so bear with me.
i need advice upgrading my HP dv6404tu laptop, im thinking upgrading my current 1gb ram to 2gb, but i dont know what to choose between the bus clock etc. sorry again but im still new to this and im a student in high school so i dont know much about all this. but anyways i saw a 2G DDR2 667 Notebook RAM (Notebook) for $85. can anyone tell me if this is worth buying and if i will get better performance if i have a higher or lower bus clock. price isnt too much of an issue but if it could be under around $150 thatd be great and also, can anyone tell me the best performance 2gb ram for under $150?

im also looking to upgrade my graphics, but im not too sure if i can. if anyone can tell me if i can upgrade the graphics on my HP laptop thatd be great. im looking into something from the Nvidia range.

    thanks in advance !!!! :)

*edit* $85 AUD, sorry for any confusion or anything :p

2GB ram will improve your overall system performance well, it's a cheap and easy gain in speed.

The T2450 has a 533MHz FSB, so you might well be better with 533MHz ram (pc4200/4300), certainly with it's higher latency buying 667MHz ram (pc5300/5400) won't give a boost in performance over the 533MHz ram.

As for what to get, i'd go for something like crucial or kingston basic stuff personally, that's what I'm on and it's plenty fast and great if you're on a budget.

As for graphics, unfortunately you can't upgrade your graphics in a laptop, only very specialised laptops can do this and yours isn't one of those.

Higher clock will not give you better performance because Santa Rosa does not support 800MHz, it will downclock to 667MHz automatically, so just get some cheap RAM, you won't notice the difference between them and another 667MHz ram module, unless you're buying some really bad RAM.
And don't be fooled by "latency", it will only show improvement in benchs IMO
    :)

$85 for 2gb of ram? That seems a bit steep give this web site a try I got 2gb of ram for my laptop with shipping for $39. Just look through the laptop memory until you find what you need.
