Ok well i purchased a T9600 for my ASUS G50VT-X5 laptop, Im 300% sure its the right CPU, right socket, etc compatibility list says supports the t9000 series.

Well i purchased a T9600 off ebay, got around today to installing it, i was very careful with everything, swapped the CPUs out. Put it all back together and now it doesnt boot. The lights come on but all i get is 2 "beeps" before it shuts itself off. What can i do?????

But your old CPU still works?

Did you upgrade to the latest bios revision before installing the new CPU?

And more importantly, as sufasb asked, does the old one still work?

The old one still works, im typing to you on it right now. BIOs was already updated to the latest version (Verison 04/15/2009)

When i started with the old CPU, the P7450 i get the two beeps and it starts up normally, with the T9600 i get two beeps then it just powers itself down.

At this point I'm thinking DOA CPU

Either that or it refuses to play nice with that CPU.

    That stinks though.

This guy installed the same CPU in the same notebook, so without further testing it's looking like the CPU is at fault here.

Hmm, not sure if there is anyway to test the CPU, But I think I got the same symptoms when I installed a new CPU and didn't update the BIOS. I know you said you updated yours, but maybe your got a version that wasn't good? I don't know. I'd give it a try again.

maybe after you upgrade, while the battery and power cord arn't connected, hold the power button for 1 min and then try again.

    Worked for me.

But yeah, it might just be a bad CPU.
