Now I have two more choices after my t9400 vs p8700 able to get more cash on my budget!now which would be better T9600 or a P9500 on my MSI 1651 (9600 m gt) and I do use the turbo button to overclock the cpu. Which one would i be safer with?
-
I'd go with T9600 from the speed alone.
Can get lower voltage like P series by undervolting. -
Whichever is the cheapest will do fine. A T9400 should be ok to, or a T9550.
-
I'd go with T9600 as well.
-
I think it depends on the cooling design of your laptop. If it has good cooling than you can enjoy the extra power of a t-processor, while P-series tend to use less pwoer, and become less hot if i'm not mistaken.
-
Well im probably gonna go with a p9500 IMO the heatsink of the msi sucks. Just because its just one big one for both the cpu and gpu. Unlike my friends sager it has two different heatsinks.
-
with undervolted T9600 and above, it'll cool the msi.
what's the price difference from your survey? -
i use arctic cooling mx2 for thermal paste and what is this copper shim you speak of?
-
edit: it's basically replacing the stock thermal pad with a copper sheet, making a better thermal transfer to heatsink -
thanks im going to take a look at it.
-
I would get T9600 and undervolt it... it would have the same voltage as P9500 when undervolted and just as likely going to be OCed... also u Turbo Mode will OC it more...
-
okay i am a newb when it comes to undervolting you got like a guide or sumething for me to look at or can you explain real quick?
-
anyway, it seems that you've already decide for P9500?
If the price is higher than T9600, I say Super NO! why the higher price for lower performance? LOL -
they are almost about the same just a $30 difference.
-
If you're going for the lower TDP (I think that's the benefit --NOT)
see this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5366097#post5366183
still I'd go with undervolted T9600 --best price +performance+temperature -- -
well im not really sure how to undervolt the cpu.. and if i undervolt is it still safe and will i be able to overclock it and can you give me a guide real quick how to do so on my computer and im sure you have to flash the bios correct? well i guess ill be down for that if i figure out how to do so.
-
to undervolt the cpu follow the guide link in my previous post
you need to have the cpu in OC state first bfore undervolt it.
Now, about undervolting gpu (with flashing VBIOS)..
I suggest you to see the result of coppermod first before doing that..
if it's all good result you don't have to undervolt the gpu. -
Lol alright! oh but my msi has the turbo button so that means i should hit turbo then do undervolt or actually overclock the cpu then undervolt still not sure what size copper to use.
-
I thought you had to flash the bios in order to undervolt the cpu.. I might go with the T9600 after looking at that guide.. For the gpu did you undervolt it?
And the cpu once you undervolt it is it there or do i have to keep doing it everytime i shutdown and start back up? -
unlease the power of the T9600 cpu!!! i was sad when i sold mine :'( now I have the P8600 chip... you can tell... it's not quite the T9600.
I'm still look out for a good deal on a T9900 for my Elitebook -
or you can use setfsb for more overclock, then undervolt
there's a setting in RMCLock so the program will start on start-up -
now now crayon no one likes a bragger! >< lol.
yea saw that. Looks like sir you have convinced me to get T9600 and save my moneys I thank you. If this all works after overclocking gpu and cpu and getting right temps. Next goal SSD here i come! -
Great choice!
-
great choice... u won't regret it...also u might need to modify RM clock like in the below thread to make undervolting work otherwise u might loose some CPU speed... see thread link below... first post... and this problem is not T9600 specific... all new 1066MHz FSB CPU's have this problem including my T9400 and P9500... anyways thread link below... keep this link... it will save u a lot of problems later on when undervolting...

yea seems similar to this one.
