Hi everybody, I'm pretty much a newb with computers. I want to upgrade my NP2090 to 3 gb ram and I was wondering what exactly does it mean by 2 SODIMMS and 1 SODIMMS for 1 GB? These are the options given on the powernotebooks site: http://powernotebooks.com/configure.php?special=472
Also, which types of RAM on Newegg do I buy for this type of upgrade?

Welcome to the forum,
2 sodimms means 2 sticks of ram so it would be 2 sticks of 512mb(2x512mb) ram(there are only 2 slots for memory in the Sager NP2090). 1 sodimm would mean a single stick of 1gb(1x1gb) ram(this is the configuration if you want 3gb)
To achieve 3GB you will need a stick of 1gb(1 sodimm) and a stick of 2GB(1x2GB).
Look for DDR2-667(PC2-5300/5400 200-pin sodimm[laptop]) ram
Take a look at the hot ram deals thread for great prices. -
like Kdawgca said but confirm the latency of your original RAM so you don't waste money buying better RAM than you need.

Wow, thanks for the fast responses.
How do you check for latency of ram?
Also is 3GB RAM worth it in terms of speed for the NP2090? How much of a speed improvement is it? -
Download CPU-Z it is free (Google) it will tell you. 3GB or 2GB is a whole can of worms, there are posts on this front page and many more if you search. Take a look and if you still have a question post but it has and is talked about so much I think you will figure out.

Hey, I've been looking at the case latency for all the RAMs for DDR 667 and they all say that the latency is 5. So is it safe to assume that since the NP2090 has DDR 667 RAM it will also have a case latency of 5 and I should get one with case latency of 5? If so, does anybody know if this RAM looks good? http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=T667SB2G_M
